
OUR STORY
Noah Dan, who spent his childhood in Trieste, Italy, founded Pitango in 2006 to re-create the pure and wholesome gelato of his youth. Still a family-owned business, Pitango now has eight locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia.
A quest to find the best milk led Noah to a family farm in Maryland with a herd of grass-fed Jersey cows. We set up our own dairy onsite to produce gelato with the freshest milk possible. We also prepare our sorbets there, starting out with whole, fresh fruit—not mixes or purées.
We churn every batch of gelato and sorbet on location in each of our shops to ensure peak freshness. All of our products are free from artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. We think you’ll taste the difference.

GELATO
Pitango Gelato makes authentic Italian gelato with organic milk from grass-fed cows and sorbet from fresh fruit. We craft every batch using simple, natural ingredients—from imported Italian nuts to premium, single-origin chocolates. Our made-from-scratch products are free from artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. And we churn each flavor on site to ensure peak freshness.

COFFEE
We collaborated with Vigilante for months to create a custom espresso, drip and cold brew coffee blends— offered exclusively at all Pitango locations. Vigilante Coffee is a local DC roaster that sources high-quality beans directly from farms all over the world, maintaining strict standards every step of the way. Pitango shares Vigilante’s uncompromising commitment to quality.

BAKERY
Pitango Bakery + Café opened in 2015 with the same focus on honest ingredients and attention to detail that we devote to Pitango Gelato. We were inspired by Italian bakeries and legendary Italian sandwich shops, where all imported cured meats and cheeses are sourced from reputable suppliers and all baked-goods are crafted fresh on a daily basis.
